Welcome to Freedom 🕊️
Welcome to Freedom! 🕊️
The internet was supposed to be open, permissionless, and free. Somewhere along the way, we lost a bit of that.
We’re here to bring it back.
Freedom Browser is an open-source browser built for a different kind of internet - one where you can access decentralized websites and applications directly, without relying on centralized gateways or intermediaries.
We’re building native support for technologies like IPFS, Swarm, Radicle, and ENS, making the decentralized web as easy to use as the regular web.
But Freedom is about more than a browser. It’s about reclaiming the original promise of the internet: a network that belongs to everyone, and is controlled by no one.
And that’s where this community comes in.
This is a place for everyone who believes the internet can be better. Developers, builders, privacy enthusiasts, decentralization nerds, and anyone who’s simply curious.
Share ideas. Ask questions. Report bugs. Show us what you’re building. Challenge our assumptions. Help shape what Freedom becomes.
We’re still early, and there’s a lot to build. But the best things on the internet have always been built by communities of people who cared.
Welcome aboard. Let’s make the internet free again. 🚀

excited to get this community going! and also about the underlying distributed tech
Lost "a bit" of that...
A LOT
As an internet user since 1993 using technet, Singapore's research network, I remember cookie free browsing on Mosaic and when each computer on the company's internal network had a dedicate IPV4 address. I ran an FTP server from my desktop to no ill effects.
My first Internet purchase was Kevin Bloody Wilson's Internet Six Pack, a CD packed with politically incorrect NSFW songs from Australia. I guess it may have been using an early secure connection but we probably didn't care back then.
miss the good old times. let's bring them back!!!!
